Succubus Shadows
A Georgina Kincaid Novel
by Richelle Mead
My review guidelines can be found HERE.
Georgina Kincaid has formidable powers. Immortality, seduction, shape-shifting into any human form she desires, walking in heels that would cripple mere mortals—all child’s play to a succubus like her.
Helping to plan her ex-boyfriend’s wedding is a different story. Georgina isn’t sure which is worse—that Seth is marrying another woman, or that Georgina has to run all over Seattle trying on bridesmaid dresses. Still, there are distractions. Georgina’s roommate, Roman, is cluttering her apartment with sexual tension. Then there’s Simone, the new succubus in town, who’s intent on corrupting Seth.
But the real danger lies in the mysterious force that’s visiting her thoughts, trying to draw her into a dark, otherworldly realm. Sooner or later, Georgina knows she’ll be too weak to resist. And when that happens, she’ll discover who she can trust, who she can’t—and that Hell is far from the worst place to spend eternity…
COVER ART
- Striking but I don't care for it. That is not how Georgina looks in my head.
- Fits well with the rest of the covers in the series.
- Typography allows the author's name to meld into the background but still be prominent, just not overpowering the title. Nice hierarchical placement.
PARANORMALITY
- Succubus
- Vampires
- Imps
- Demons
- Angel
- Oneiroi
SEXUALITY
- M/F
REVIEW
- Georgina realizes the constant repetition of her existance, a circle - the same things happening over and over again.
- She even admits to the bleakness of her state on page 26, "Yes, my life was a never-ending spiral, doomed to repeat the same patterns of annoying immortal threats—and miserable romantic situations."
- Extensive backstory, we learn a lot about Georgina's past, even stories that we have read in previous books. They are not repeated word for word and retold to fit tight within the context.
- We are given hope and a possible HEA near the end, then reality and doubt intrudes. Just proving the quote above true once again. But that one snippet of happiness is why we keep on reading, isn't it?
- Once again I am looking forward to the next book with both trepidation and lust.

Is this the same woman who write YA? I think my daughter follows her on Twitter so I'm hoping she writes YA and my daughter's not following the succubus series. LOL That cover doesn't appeal to me either. Too pale and black and red. To vampirey.
Tam, She writes Vampire Academy as well... though I haven't read them.
Ahh. Okay, my daughter has some of those books so I guess that's why she's following her.

Thanks so much for delving into my head. It's scary in here sometimes, so it is nice to have company! Don't step on the zephyr...
