We had to put in our own bridge, and I had always wanted a covered bridge made out of logs. Never did get one.

Hmmm. Yeah, most people don't OWN bridges, but hey, whatever floats your boat. Too bad he never got it.
It does seem like a rather depressing book, but I suppose the truth for many people.
