I love to troll the second hand book stores and library sales AND sometimes I even buy a book just for the cover! This one has a beautiful orchid front and center. An excerpt from Elixir by Gary Braver - pg 54
"From those batches he made subcultures. He kept that up for four weeks until the untreated cells stopped subdividing and died."
Copyright 2000, Gary Braver is acclaimed by Robert B. Parker (Who is he?) to be ,"... the thriller writer for the new millemium." Here's the blurb:
The priceless essence of a rare jungle blossom with the power to prolong youth, health, beauty ... and life. Indefinitely. At a price.
Desire for it will drive people to madness and murder, cause governments to collapse, and destroy the natural order of life.
When biologist Christopher Bacon headed for the rainforests of Papua New Guinea in search of medicinal plants, he had no idea that he would bring home a flower rumored by a tribal shaman to prevent human aging. Chris conducts secret experiments on the flower's extract at his Boston pharmaceutical lab, only to discover that test animals not only stopped aging, they were rejuvenated. Driven by fountain-of-youth dreams, Chris begins tampering with the ultimate secret of nature, the consequences of which could be unimaginably horrific.
How far would you go to possess it?

The plot sounds interesting. I love finding books at garage sales and second hand stores too, I found a couple of good books at a flea market last weekend - they were very affordable :)
Interesting!!!

Sounds interesting... If a bit scary...

Really? You don't know who Robert B. Parker is? Only the creator of the best studly hard-boiled modern detective ever, Spenser :-)
Nice! I love to read these when they don't totally make sense, like they are truly random.

Thanks so much for delving into my head. It's scary in here sometimes, so it is nice to have company! Don't step on the zephyr...
